My city has been having issues with overcrowded schools, therefore, they have begun to build larger schools. Elementary schools, that is. For some idiotic reason, everyone is super focused on the elementary level and I guess that once they move on, it's every man for himself....
Today I was discussing this with a lady I work with. I was pointing out the large group that my daughter will be graduating with... here's how the conversation went:

Me: My daughter will be graduating with a class nearly 4 times the size of mine, yet the school is still the same size.
Her: That's because she goes to West
Me: No, it's because our population is growing faster than the city itself
Her: well maybe THEM indian ladies should stop having so many kids. I see pregnant indian women downtown all the time and they have like 4 or 5 kids already.
Me: oh, that's nice. When I go home tonight I guess I'll have a talk with Katie (my daughter) about not having kids because you think there's enough of THEM
and I got up and grabbed my purse and stomped off!!


To Ice the cake, she can't figure out why I got so pissed off.....

    Wow, ignorant people usually can't figure it out.

    Breathe, breathe deeply. have some garlic and breathe on this woman! Ok j/k, but take a deep breathe and know she is at the bottom of the gene pool.

      Well I agree that people need to stop having so many kids...but I think that across the board regardless of race. Two is plenty...reproduce yourself and your partner and then stop.

        I agree 100%, don't even get me started on larger families... but we could have done without the whole THEM INDIAN WOMEN remark., it was a tad much.

          Ok, we have plenty of kids a yours mine and ours like of thing. But, my goal is to raise responsible, productive, contributing women. My 23 y/o is a chef, has a 401k, ira and has a ten year plan. My 5 y/o is the queen of the house! Plus we have a handful in between. I never in my life would have ever dreamt I would have so many kids, but now I can't imagine life with out them.

          Because this planet is only going to support so many people. The next generation, or the next, is probably going to start fighting over resources (that's your children and grandchildren). People need to start thinking about this. Having too many is just greedy, IMHO; let's keep a little diversity in the gene pool and save some space for other people's offspring.

            while i understand your position, you must also realize that a lot of these BIG families you see are blended families. I had two of my own and when I remarried it suddently became 5. People shouldn't be so quick to judge before taking the time to find out the whole story.

            The government should put a cap on the number of children you can have that they are going to pay for i.e., food stamps, medical aid, etc. I have seen way to many women getting pregnant with yet another child they can't afford just to get a raise in goverment subsidy. Not trying to start a riot but half of those kids eventually end up in jail where we, the taxpayers, support them for the rest of their lives.

            It is pretty much a lose, lose situation.
